My Top 5 Websites

Last.FM Dropbox Delicious Hacker News

I couldn’t actually think of a fifth that I use and appreciate every single day.

Here’s why:

Last.FM is obvious. Its part of my tracking every single thing I do to harness computers to make my life easier. Last.FM listens to what music I listen to (and I’m religious about scrobbling everything if a service doesn’t offer Last.FM I won’t use it - sorry MixCloud) - I can connect with groups and people who adore the bands that I adore. It just plain rocks.

Dropbox made my life a world easier. I have an iMac and a MacBook. I used to have a work MacBook Pro, but startup world = use my own computer. Without Dropbox I would probably lose a significant chunk of my day each day - I work all day on my Macbook, then when I get home i use my iMac. Without dropbox it’d be ridiculous trying to share files with myself, let alone other people.

Delicious is my primary search tool. I try to delicious every single link that I read and find useful, I’ve been crappier at doing this since I started using Chrome and lacking a proper extension. My #1 feature in it though is that I can share bookmarks with my buddies. I always felt they should have used this more, if I tag a link “for:macdork” it gets sent to my friend, way cool right?

Hacker News is probably the only place I’ve connected with people online in large numbers and felt I wasn’t bizarre for wanting to start cool companies.

Tumblr is pretty awesome too, thinking about it. And LibraryThing.
